Superstar Search winner launches self-titled Album
The much-awaited album of PrimeCredit’s Superstar Search Season 5 grand winner Daphne del Rosario was launched on July 14, 2019 at Lost Stars Livehouse. Guests invited to this private event were Daphne’s friends and family, Filipino community leaders, PrimeCredit business partners, and those involved in the production of Superstar Search Season 5. The album, entitled “Daphne”, contains three original songs all composed by Superstar Search musical director Nobel Gabasan.

The Superstar Search singing contest is PrimeCredit’s signature event for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong. On November 25, 2018, PrimeCredit presented the much-awaited Grand Finals of Season 5.
Having watched the 4th Season of Superstar Search in 2016, Daphne told herself that she’ll wait for the next season and try her luck in the biggest and most credible singing contest for OFWs in Hong Kong.
Daphne passed the audition round but was not able to go through the 1st Elimination round. Being passionate and determined, she then again tried for the 2nd Elimination Round and was able to get a spot in the Semi-Finals.
The Superstar Search Season 5 Semi-Finals was something different. As PrimeCredit always bring in new surprises to spice up the competition, a wild-card was then introduced. Two top grand finalists from previous seasons were invited to join the Semi-Finals. Daphne, with her determined heart, proved she has the superstar potential and secured one of five spots in the Grand Finals.
In preparation for the Grand Finals, Daphne and the other grand finalists went through a rigorous training with PrimeCredit’s Superstar Team. More than the vocal training from maestro Nobel, the grand finalists needed to perform with a live band and back up dancers, a first in Superstar Search history. Moreover, individual skills, presentation, and confidence were developed during the 2-month training.
Behind the jolly face comes an inspiring story on how Daphne was honed to conquer challenges that may come her way. Raised by a single OFW parent, Daphne learned how to be independent and hardworking at an early age. These challenges motivated her to be better and inspire others as she takes on her new role of being a Prime Superstar.
During the grand finals, thousands witnessed as Daphne sang her heart out and inspired and impressed everyone with her humble desire to win. She received numerous prizes from PrimeCredit that day, but probably the most unforgettable part was the opportunity to perform with the Philippines’ Mega Star, Ms. Sharon Cuneta. Prime Time with the Mega Star was held right after the Superstar Search Grand Finals at the Asia-World Expo, Hong Kong’s world-class indoor venue which housed almost 5,000 in attendance. Daphne and Sharon delighted fans with the ever-famous song in the 90s, “Maging Sino Ka Man”.
Superstar Search Musical Director Nobel Gabasan shares about Daphne: “Daphne sings from the heart. I knew from the very start that she can show and give more from what we see in her. She can go beyond her comfort zone. She delivers and interprets a song with her own distinct style and claims it as her own.” Truly, Daphne can shift from being a sweet serenader to a hard rocker with ease and grace.
