Update of PrimeCredit SMS Sender IDs

To help the public identify and verify the identities of SMS senders and fight against SMS fraud, the Office of the Communications Authority and the Telecommunications Industry have jointly established the “SMS Sender Registration Scheme”. Starting today, PrimeCredit will use Registered SMS Sender IDs with prefix “#” to send one-way SMS to our customers.

PrimeCredit’s existing phone number sender addresses will be replaced by Registered SMS Sender IDs: #PCL and #pcl.

Please note that the Registered SMS Sender IDs of #PCL and #pcl do not apply to:

  1. SMS messages where the recipient is expected to reply via a phone numbers; or
  2. Customers who are using Single-Card-Multiple-Numbers/One-Card-Two-Numbers mobile services from non-Hong Kong providers.

You can also check the participating organisations and their registered sender IDs on the OFCA website (www.ofca.gov.hk).

Regarding the SMS messages where the recipient is expected to reply to the senders phone number, PrimeCredit will continue to send messages from the phone numbers: +85266570861XXXX to your registered mobile phone number for verification.

Here are some tips to protect yourself:

  • Stay highly vigilant when receiving SMS from an unknown sender or a sender ID without the prefix “#”
  • Never disclose your personal information, credit card credentials, One-Time passwords, click on any embedded links or open any attachments in suspicious SMS
  • If you are in doubt of the received message, note the sender’s name and phone number, then contact our Customer Service team to verify the sender’s identity
